Nachtrab, Christopher

Christopher began his training under the tutelage of his mother, Susan Nachtrab, in his native New York. He continued his dance studies at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music with Violette Verdy; graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Ballet and Comparative Literature. Mr. Nachtrab began his dance career at The Richmond Ballet before joining The Sacramento Ballet, where he celebrated tenure as a principal artist. Some of his most memorable performances have been in George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments (Melancholic), Tarantella, Who Cares?, Western Symphony, Rubies (Principal Male), Stars & Stripes (El Capitan); Ron Cunningham’s Carmina Burana (Beige Soloist/Blue Soloist/ Red Soloist), Romeo & Juliet (Mercutio/ Tybalt), The Great Gatsby (Tom Buchanan), Peter Pan (Capt. Hook); Trey McIntyre’s Second Before the Ground, Wild Sweet Love, Ma Cong’s Blood Rush (First Pas de Deux) & Amy Seiwert’s It’s Not A Cry. Most notably he portrayed the role of Albrecht in Giselle and as the title character in Stephen Mills’ Hamlet. For his many accomplishments, Christopher has been the recipient of various awards including The Marina Svetlova Memorial Award and The Verdy Award for Ballet Excellence. He is a co-founder of the artistic collaborative Capital Dance Project and has performed as a guest artist throughout the country. In 2019 he made his debut with The San Francisco Opera, performing soloist roles in Rusalka and Orpheus and Eurydice. Mr. Nachtrab has also been a featured artist with the Metropolitan Opera & The Washington National Opera.
