Mezzo-soprano Silvie Jensen’s recent operatic roles include Lehrbuben in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg with Lyric Opera of Chicago and San Francisco Opera, Nurse in Boris Godunov with San Francisco Symphony, Kascheyevna in Kaschey the Immortal with Island City Opera, Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto with the Mendocino Music Festival; Carmen with American Chamber Opera in Chicago, and Olga in Eugene Onegin. Silvie has premiered new operas with Riverside Opera, Stonington Opera House, the Ostrava Days Festival in Czech Republic, and at the Carolina Chamber Music Festival. She has created and performed new works at London’s Barbican Centre with Ornette Coleman, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara with Meredith Monk, and performed Einstein on the Beach at Carnegie Hall with Philip Glass. Ms. Jensen made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 2014, singing Handel's Messiah, and appeared in Bach’s St John Passion and Magnificat in 2019 with the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Hall. She joined the San Francisco Opera Chorus in 2015.
She has commissioned and premiered works composed for her, and has appeared in recital in New York at Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, Symphony Space; in Philadelphia, California, and Italy. Her solo album Who Is Silvie? is available on iTunes.
