Soprano Crystal Kim joined the San Francisco Opera Chorus in 2023 and made her solo debut with the Company in "Madame Butterfly" in the role of Cousin. Her career highlights include appearances as a soloist in prestigious concerts such as Soprano Soloist in Ives’ Symphony No.4 with the San Francisco Symphony, and Soprano Soloist in Mason Bates’ Mass Transmission, also with the San Francisco Symphony. She has showcased her vocal talents as a soloist in numerous other performances, including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Symphony Silicon Valley, Finzi’s "In Terra Pax" with Nova Vista Symphony, and Beethoven’s "Missa Solemnis" with Nova Vista Symphony.
Crystal has portrayed a diverse range of characters on stage, including Susanna in Mozart’s "The Marriage of Figaro," Papagena in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," and Sister Catherine in Jake Heggie's "Dead Man Walking." She has also brought to life roles such as A Lady with a Cake Box in "Postcard from Morocco," Pamina in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," and Musetta in Mozart's "La Bohème." Crystal's dedication to her craft led her to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from Hanyang University in Seoul, followed by a Masters Degree and Professional Artist Diploma in Voice from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
A former member of the San Francisco Symphony Regular Chorus, Crystal continues to captivate audiences with her exceptional talent. She is set to shine as 'Echo' in the upcoming opera "Handmaid's Tale" in spring 2024.
